Maung Kyaw Nu ,President,Burmese Rohingya Association in Thailand's Comment---
I
full agreed with Phuketwan news that the detainees of Sadao did not
commit any riot or escape attempt. Though the same IDC ,five fellow
Rohingyas died the same reason of overcrowded purpose for more than
seven months at the same locked up cages, the rest are scare of death all
the times . On the other hands ,the government fixed six months
duration was already over 24th of July. The inmates are hopeless
of their future of release and nervous of day to day increase of
sickness of inmates. The inmates always voice of their medical treatment
and transfer them to the wider space where they can minimum get
sunbath and walking areas to be alive. This is their rights at least to
be alive.
The police custody/cells are very small and difficult to stay longer than
24 hours for the inmates. For example ,the police cell of and ground
floor of Badam bisar IDC are not fit for 60 and 20 inmates respectively.I visited there many times and aware of spaces .
Therefore ,this is my ardent request to the authority concerned to kindly transfer all these 2000 Rohingya detainees to proposed Refugee
camp and allow UNHCR for their future status determination. This is a humanitarian
crisis and deal them as per international standard .
MAUNG KYAW NU.
